Golf and Party

Thursday, August 18th, 2005

Realized that I hadn’t posted the pictures from Pete’s bachelor party golf game and the BBQ at my place the following week.

A few weekends ago a bunch of us went up north for Pete’s bachelor party. The plan was to golf and then go see the Killers concert at the casino. Things went well until just before the concert Pete started feeling ill (I think you’ll find the culprit below). He was able to rally and join us at the bar after the concert so all was good.

The day started pretty early as we drove up that morning to make a tee time right after noon.

Steve and Eric before the drinking really got started. Unfortunately ’someone’ found my camera and deleted the good Eric pictures. Well, good from a viewer’s point of view. Maybe not from Eric’s.

Rob and Josh

null
Hmm…what’s Pete drinking? Could this be the problem?

null
Yes, yes it could. Plus, folks he kept leaving it in the sun while he played. To his credit he drank the whole thing.

Well that’s it for the bachelor party. These things aren’t supposed to show up on your friend’s blog so no more pictures.

The next weekend I decided to have a BBQ to use up the beer and food left over from my last party. It was supposed to be pretty quiet until someone started playing ‘tippy cup’ up on the deck. For those who don’t know how to play it is pretty simple.

1) Divide into teams of equal numbers
2) Each person gets a cup, fills it with beer, and stands in line along the edge of a table. The other team does the same on the opposite side of the table.
3) Starting at one end each person drinks the beer, sets the empty cup on the table, and then must flip it over so it lands upright. If it doesn’t you need to pick it up and flip it again.
4) Once you have successfully flipped your cup the next person on your team can start drinking their beer.
5) First team finished wins.

Not clear? Ok let’s show you some pictures.

The night starts nice and normal. Then the game starts.

Got it yet? No? Ok a few more…

I’ve found that besides making you (read: me) drink ‘tippy cup’ also makes you shout things like:

“Drink you loser!”
“Come’on flip the cup moron!”
“Yes! we kicked your ass!”
“We’re the greatest!”
“Can someone go down and get more beer?”

It also tends to make you consume a bit more beer than normal in a much shorter amount of time. As a result you end up with pictures like this:

I think he might have won.

Can’t have a post without a great picture of Rob. He so loves these.

null
I think Brandi wants Josh’s sausage.

null
Ahhh…so sweet. Kathleen and Josh.

Brandi’s little sister wondering if it is going to come up again.

null
What a cute couple. Who’d think that in about 10 minutes Neil would be napping?

This is the “can’t ever run for president picture”

I’m just hoping that it was Brandi who took this picture.

Pete’s Wedding

Tuesday, August 16th, 2005

This past Friday I had another wedding. This time my friend Pete was getting married. Since Pete is Scottish, hence the nickname, you’ll see a lot of guys wearing kilts. Before I get the comments, yes I was also supposed to wear a kilt but somehow it went missing. As a result I had to rush home and switch into a suit. I was a bit disappointed but it did give me an opportunity to get a bunch of good pictures.

It was another great wedding and everyone had a great time.

Anyway, like last week there are a ton of pictures to post so I’m going to get right to it without much editing other than for size and just posting them in order by file name. As normal if you want the original high-res pic you just have to ask.

null
Since last week’s Rob picture was such a hit I decided that I should rotate so the others don’t get jealous. This time it’s Steve’s turn.

null
Eric, Nicole’s head, and me.

Halfway through the wedding, just before my batteries ran out, Eric decided he was going to jump into the pool. Even though he didn’t make it (thwarted by a fence) it did make for an amusing series of pictures as he slowly undressed on the way.

See folks he doesn’t always look like last time.

I had other dancing pictures but Shannon and Chris had the only one that turned out ok. Other than the Steve pictures to follow.

null
Um, Shannon that’s the guys’ locker room. But it’s understandable since you just didn’t want to miss Eric on the way to the pool.

null
My theory on how the whole swimming pool incident got started.

null
What a charmer.

Watch those eyes buster.

Also I ended up taking a ton of photos of people with Pete just after the ceremony. Since I got some requests already for those photos in high-res I am just posting links to the high-res picture below.

Sean’s Wedding

Monday, August 8th, 2005

In China I found out that in August I would have 2 weddings to attend. Not that big a deal except for two things. First, it has been several years since I’ve had a true ‘wedding season’ among my friends. For the past four or five years it has been just 1 or 2 a year and now I have two in two weeks. Second, I knew they were both going to be fun.

So this past weekend I went to Sean’s wedding. For those that don’t know he is the owner of my favorate bar (The Town Pump) in Detroit and has just opened up a new club across the street. He is also a great guy: nice, fun, funny, and throws a good party.

Anyway, I was one of the few among my friends to bring a camera so I promised I’d post the pictures. I did this quickly without much editing (except for size). Also there isn’t really much rhyme or reason for the order. Pretty much just based on what I named the files.

For those of you who want high-res copies let me know and I’ll email them to you. Also, Chris if you can send me photos I’d appreciate it.

So without further ado - the pictures.

Brandi and Jess

Brandi and Neil

I can’t really remember but I’m hoping they were higher up some steps. I swear they’re not really giants and I don’t remember crawling around on the floor.

Ed and his wife Carol

Chris, Jess, Josh, some sleepy girl, and Shannon

I think the flash from the last picture woke her up.

Happy Cadillac

Happy Curtis

Happy Josh - although I was going to title this one “For Oliver 2″. Not sure why the flash didn’t work.

Ditto

null
The bride and groom. Ok, just as a reference I had to hold the camera up to try to get church pictures. So they didn’t get Leslie and Sean like I really wanted (although you’ll normally see I at least got a part of a head) but some of them turned out to amuse me for other reasons. More on this below.

null
Neil, Nicole, and Josh

null
Maybe this is Happiest Josh. You’ll have to ask him.

null
Is it just me or does the girl behind Sean not seem all that thrilled? Zoom in. Really. Not the one in the pink. The head. In the back. Weird.

null
I’m not saying they ARE porn stars (although some might wish otherwise) but what else could you title this picture?

null
Now Curtis is really happy. What a great wedding.

null
I don’t know who these people are. This is back at Sean’s new place after the reception. And yes I could have made another comment but I’ll leave that to Oliver.

null
Me, Scottish, and Josh

null
The great thing about having the camera is that I get to remove any pictures like this of me. But of my friends? Nah.

null
Robi and Neil

null
The brothers 2

null
Scottish, me, and Tanya.

null
Pete and Tanya are the other wedding event this summer. Pictures to follow in a week.

null
Sean (the groom, if you couldn’t tell from my fantastic church pictures), Cadillac, and Josh

null
Shannon and breasts or for Oliver 3

null
Shannon and Chris

null
Shannon and Neil

null
This picture is kind of spooky.

null
Tanya, Josh, Jamie, and Cadillac

null
That’s Neil.

null
It’s not me it’s the camera. Swear.

null
Fred, Daphne, Wilma, Shaggy, Scooby…oh wait, wrong gang.

null
Pretty mad I didn’t get a picture of the gift after streching but at least this gets the point across.

null
The kiss.

null
And they’re giving him a greencard.

null
Watch those eyes mister.

And that’s it until next week when I should have lots of pictures of kilts.
